I created this work with the theme of growth, using the black cat I lived with throughout my teens and twenties as a model. While painting, I remembered feeling like a mother, thinking, I will protect this fluffy, ball-of-fur-like kitten that had just been born. Although the black cat's expression didn't change much, its round eyes staring at me were very talkative and fun, and it was a presence that always brought a smile to my face.
